Psilocybin Macrodosing Capsules

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Psilocybin macrodosing capsules?

Psilocybin macrodosing capsules are a form of supplement that contain psilocybin, a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain types of mushrooms. These capsules are designed to provide a macrodose of psilocybin for users. Our macrodose supplements, Balanced High (AKA Scooby Snacks) and Extended Release (AKA Increased TUC) deliver 250mg of Psilocybe cubensis per capsule, so you can have as much control over the size and strength of your dose as you'd like.

How do I take Psilocybin macrodosing capsules?

Here are some tips to help you start macrodosing like a pro:

  • Dosage: Start with a lower dose to assess your individual tolerance. Follow the dosing instructions on the labels for best results.

  • Method: The capsules are designed to be taken as-is. However, you can also Lemon Tek or make a shroom tea out of the capsules' contents. This will help reduce the nausea, but it will also intensify the trip by 2 to five times, so we recommend these methods only when you are more comfortable with macrodosing. You can also have a little fun with it by making magic mushroom gummies and shroom brownies.

  • Preparation: Prepare your mind and body for the experience. This can involve meditation, setting intentions, or other mindfulness practices.

  • Diet: Avoid heavy meals and focus on eating healthy 24 hours leading to the trip. On the day of the journey, stick to light snacks like fruits and vegetables.

  • Environment: Create a safe and comfortable environment. This could be out in nature, or a quiet room with comfortable seating and low lighting; it's entirely personal.

  • Company: Have an experienced friend, guide, or trip sitter present. They can provide support and reassurance during your journey.

  • Music: Curate a playlist of sounds that soothe your mind. Music can greatly influence the direction and mood of your journey.

Remember, everyone’s experience with psilocybin is unique and can vary greatly. Always listen to your body and mind, and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

What are the benefits of macrodosing Psilocybin?

As with microdosing, the goal of macrodosing Psilocybin is to increase how often you experience desired states and decrease how often you experience undesirable states. It’s been studied for its potential to treat a variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Here are the potential benefits of Psilocybin for various mental health concerns:

  • Anxiety: Psilocybin may help reduce anxiety by restoring the balance of serotonin in the body. It has shown promise in reducing anxiety symptoms, especially in individuals with terminal illnesses.

  • Depression: Psilocybin may be an effective treatment for depression. It interacts with the serotonin receptors in the brain, which play a crucial role in mood regulation. It has also been found to increase the density of dendritic spines, small protrusions found on nerve cells which aid in the transmission of information between neurons.

  • PTSD: Psilocybin therapy has shown efficacy in facilitating confronting traumatic memories, decreasing emotional avoidance, depression, anxiety, pessimism, and disconnection from others, and increasing acceptance, self-compassion, and forgiveness of abusers, all of which are relevant to PTSD recovery.

  • ADHD:While there is limited scientific evidence, anecdotal reports suggest that psilocybin may help reduce ADHD symptoms such as distractibility, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.

  • OCD: Psilocybin may help with OCD symptoms. It acts on the serotonin receptors in the brain, which play a crucial role in mood regulation.

  • Bipolar Disorder: Psilocybin may help relieve depressive episodes in people with bipolar disorder, without triggering mania or mood swings like some common antidepressants can.

As for the neurological and physiological pathways, psilocybin primarily works by activating serotonin receptors and increasing BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factors), most often in the prefrontal cortex, a part of the brain that affects mood, cognition, and perception. This leads to enhanced neuroplasticity and neurogenesis, which helps to reverse stress-induced damage and makes your brain more adaptable and resilient. It also alters electrical activity in a brain region associated with emotional processing and internal awareness. Slow brain wave activity is reduced, hindering communication between faraway brain regions. Neuronal activity goes up, but in a chaotic manner that disrupts regular function. Additionally, psilocybin has been found to increase the density of dendritic spines, small protrusions found on nerve cells which aid in the transmission of information between neurons.

Are there any side effects?

As with any medicine, natural or synthetic, there can be side effects. Some experience nausea, increased heart rate, or changes in perception or mood. If you have any concerns, it’s best to consult with a healthcare or psychedelic-assisted therapy professional.

Who should absolutely NOT use Psilocybin macrodosing capsules?

Psilocybin is a powerful medicine and is not suitable for everyone. It should not be used by individuals under the age of 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or individuals with certain mental health conditions. Always consult with your healthcare professional or a trusted psychedelic-assisted therapist before starting any new supplement regimen.

Can Psilocybin cause psychosis?

No; based on the best research available, there is no relationship between Psilocybin and psychosis. Here are some key findings:

  • A large U.S. survey found that users of LSD and similar drugs were no more likely to have mental-health conditions than other respondents. The researchers analyzed data from more than 135,000 people who took part in surveys from 2008 to 2011. Of those, 14% described themselves as having used at any point in their lives any of the three ‘classic’ psychedelics: LSD, psilocybin, and mescaline. The researchers found that individuals in this group were not at increased risk of developing 11 indicators of mental-health problems such as schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, anxiety disorders, and suicide attempts.

  • A large population study, published in 2015, found no link between classic psychedelics (i.e. Psilocybin, LSD) and a person's likelihood to experience psychological distress.

However, it’s important to note that while these studies suggest no link between psilocybin and psychosis, individual experiences can vary greatly.

How often should I take Psilocybin macrodosing capsules?

The frequency of use depends on your needs and responses. If you are currently microdosing, we recommend taking a one week break before macrodosing. We also recommend waiting at least one week between macrodosing sessions to avoid building a tolerance.

If you are microdosing with My Supply Co. macrodose capsules, or plan to microdose with them, we recommend following one of the seven microdosing protocols listed here.

Can I take Psilocybin macrodosing capsules with other medications?

Psilocybin can interact with certain medications, so it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional if you’re currently taking any other medications.
